Mystery face....

It may be from down the road in Canterbury, but its still very weird.... a woman sees the face of her dead husband in the background of a photo of her granddaughter's Christening!

Read the article here at Kent Online.

Thanks to Mr Elliott from Whitstable for drawing my attention to this story.

White Van Witch

Stuck in traffic on the Thanet Way - a Turin Shroud style imprint of a witch's profile, or an elaborate piece of photorealistic grime-graffiti? You decide....

Phantom Shopper

This incredible CCTV footage was brought to my attention by a Mr Dan Morgan. His email follows:

Hello

I am an avid reader of your blog and thought you might be interested in the below clip that my mate sent me.  This shop in Whitstable noticed stock was going missing so they went to check the CCTV footage and look what they saw. Seriously freaky.

Hope you like it
Cheers
Dan

Seriously freaky indeed! Thanks Dan.

Giant crab!

This shocking image of a giant crab under a popular crabbing spot in Whitstable was taken last weekend. The boys were unaware of the danger, but as several passersby shouted to them, the crab slipped silently away under the water, into the dark, sideways.

An aerial photo of a much larger giant crab was shown in the Weird Whitstable exhibition earlier in the year. This is the first close up we have of one of these colossal crustaceans.

Have you seen this giant?
If so, please leave a message in the comments.

Nest

Leaving Whitstable and driving down the Thanet Way last week I saw this incredible sight.... a giant bird's nest being transported on the back of a lorry. Sadly there was no sign of the bird, or its eggs.

The Haunted Fence of Tankerton

This is a sighting brought to my attention by Whitstable resident, SB. A haunted fence sounded intriguing so I headed out to Tankerton straight away. On investigation, I found myself in sudden freak weather conditions - was this an attempt by entities to warn me off?
Rain hammered hard on the pavement and was blown by the sea-wind into waves of spray. As the rain passed a rainbow arched through the sky, and my eyes saw the evil in the wooden fence in front of me.

I'm guessing, but could it be that these are the faces of spirits trapped inside the wood of a Witches Hanging Tree*, which is now buzz-sawed into B&Q fence panels? They seem to be animal faces, perhaps Witches familiars? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Many thanks to SB of Whitstable.

The Lurker - eye-witness drawing!

There has been an incredible amount of interest in the last post about The Lurker - It seems I'm not the only Whitstable resident who has witnessed this nocturnal nightmare.
I have received an email from a local father who's 12 year old daughter saw the beast last year, and was left quite shaken. This is a direct transcript from the email I received:
Last year our cat (George) went missing and my daughter was very upset.
She would look out of her window hoping George would appear. One night, just after the sun had gone down, she had gone up stairs to get ready for bed when we heard her scream.
We ran upstairs ‘What’s wrong?’ we asked. She explained she had been looking out of the window when she had seen a ‘thing’ in the back garden.
She continued it was neither a man or an animal. That it stood like a man but had long arms and moved like an animal.
The thing that had frightened her the most was it’s eyes which she said shone out in the dark.
I went outside to see if anything was there but I couldn’t see anything.
The following day my daughter drew the attached picture.

Many thanks to P.E. and N.R.E. of Whitstable - thanks for coming forward, and the drawing is fantastic!

The Lurker

A sunday night in March this year, I was closing the blind at the back of our house and I saw some movement in the dark. Thinking it was a fox, I slowly crept out the back door with my camera and took a snap. The flash caused a great commotion as what I thought was a fox scrabbled to get up and over our fence and shed. It was only when I checked the photo on my laptop I saw that it was no fox... it was a strange, long-limbed monkey type creature. A lurker.
Anyone else seen this creature? If so, drop me a line.

Shed skin....

You may remember the Street Serpent from the exhibition. I found its discarded skin a short distance from where I had originally spotted it on Albert Street. The question is, what had slithered out, and what had it transformed into? The same but just fresher, or something new?

Don't go in the water!

This creature was spotted on 7 March, in the sea near the Royal Native Oyster Stores Restaurant. It seemed to be rummaging for the discarded oyster shells in the shallows. I wouldn't have believed that any sea creature could have antlers unless I had seen it with my own eyes.
Did you see this too? Maybe you know someone who did? Please leave a comment.

First...

... I will say a big thank you to everyone who came along to the Weird Whitstable exhibition and made it such a success. The response was incredible, so with that in mind I have started this blog to share the latest in unusual occurrences in Whitstable and the surrounding area. Please send me your stories and I may post them here alongside my own research.
Don't forget to visit the main Weird Whitstable site, where you can peruse the prints and evidence from the exhibition.
Thank you, and remember, its all true...
